THE VIENNESE BALL, which has rapidly been gaining prominence worldwide amongst its fans, will be coming to Kuala Lumpur for the second time. After the resounding success last year we are very confident to bring this prestigious event to even greater heights.

The words "Viennese Opera Ball" have long been synonymous with international glamour, romantic elegance and prestige. The tradition of the Viennese Opera Ball traces back to the 18th century and has been held since then almost every year.

On 25th October 2008, the Austrian Embassy will hold the most prominent ball of Europe here again at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

Y.A.M. Tunku Naquiyuddin ibni Tuanku Ja´afar, Crown Prince of Negeri Sembilan, has graciously consented to be the Royal Patron of the Viennese Ball 2008.

The highlight of the Ball will be the traditional Opening Ceremony performed by young ladies and gentlemen - called the Debutantes. Guests will be also treated to very special performances by the famous Austrian Ambassade-Orchestra, Viennese State Opera singers and ballet dancers. But Waltz will not be the only entertainment of the evening. A Fashion Show involving Malaysia's and international top designers will entice you. And after midnight the supper lounge will open its doors to seduce you with live Latin American music. Besides the musical entertainment the gala menu presents authentic Austrian cuisine and excellent Austrian wines.

Proceeds from this night will go to two charitable funds, Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin and Pure Life Society.

Complimentary Dance Lessons

As a gesture of appreciation for your participation in the Viennese Ball Kuala Lumpur 2008, Sapura Auto and the Austrian Embassy are organizing complimentary “Viennese style” ballroom dance lessons for sponsors and ball guests with the famous Dance Master from Austria, Mr. Reinhard Polt, and we would love to have you join us.

Mr. Reinhard Polt was a Dance Instructor at Vienna´s largest and best known Ballroom Dancing School " Willy Elmayer ", where he himself had learnt to dance. During that time, he was permanently engaged in the training of young debutants for the "Vienna Opera Ball", held in the Vienna State Opera House each year.

In 1988, Mr. Polt started to organize Viennese type ballroom dancing courses abroad. The "First International Vienna Dance School" was founded in 1990 in Portugal and is the only Austrian Dance School outside of Austria, to date. He has conducted ballroom dance courses and trained debutants of Viennese Balls in Athens, Beijing, Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich, Budapest, Brussels, Copenhagen, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Milan, Lisbon, Oporto, Madrid, Tunis, Shanghai, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Muscat.

Mr. Polt will not only teach you the Viennese Waltz, but also Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba and Rock n’ Roll.
